The 2008 Great Britain & Ireland Guide
Welcome to The Good Hotel's new website which was described by the Sunday Times last month as "fiercely independent." The Times has also selected The Good Hotel Guide as one of its top 10 guide books, the only hotel guide in the list. The paper's travel editor, Kathleen Wyatt praises our "independent reviews guided by readers." She also singles out the fact that each copy of the Guide contains £150 worth of discount vouchers. You might also want to have a look at an article in The Times which discusses the merits of the GHG's new website versus web alternatives such as TripAdvisor. Finally the Daily Mail describes the Good Hotel Guide as "one of the most authoritative sources of good places to stay in the UK and Ireland." The paper has made the Good Hotel Guide its website of the week. (see website addresses of articles below).
The 2008 edition of the Guide covers 850 hotels. More than 80 are new and a similar number has been dropped. Please don't rely on an old edition because hotels and their standards can change very fast. Readers' reports on their hotel experiences are the life blood of the Guide. Just keep writing to us about all the places you visit. A few lines by email or on a post card will help us maintain the Guide's reputation. The best 12 reports will win a copy of the next edition of the Guide and an invitation to our launch party.
If you send us a review of a hotel, you will automatically be enrolled as a member of the GHG club.
As a member, you will be entitled to:
1. Special pre-publication offers
2. Personal advice on hotels
3. Advice if you are in dispute with a hotel
Media Review:
"We don't all want fiddly taps and flatscreens. Sometimes other things are important--like service and good food, and a room that doesn't cost several hundred pounds for the night. Cue The Good Hotel Guide. It focuses entirely on the smaller, independent, family-run properties in Britain and Ireland and in doing so bangs the drum for a style of hotel-keeping that ultimately has far more value than the latest design concept."
