If you’re planning to tie the knot this year, don’t forget to start making honeymoon plans. The world’s your oyster, whether you want to relax on a tropical beach, climb mountains or jump on a luxury train. With new hotel openings and ideas from Corsica to Cape Verde, Jane Anderson, Editor of 101 Honeymoons, selects 26 of the best honeymoons in 2026.

BHUTAN

If there’s one enduring trend for 2026 Honeymoons, it’s to heighten the experience of travelling together. And you don’t get much more experiential - or high - than Bhutan. Renowned as the kingdom of happiness, this landlocked Himalayan country brings all the right vibes as the place to begin married life. This is never going to be a budget honeymoon, but Away Holidays has the inside track on what to see and where to go without an exorbitant price tag.

THE SEYCHELLES

The Seychelles is famed for its castaway islands, yet still retains a local identity and indigenous culture. It also has a firm eye on conservation – nature is everything here. Barefoot Traveller favours four-star properties and its two-centre honeymoon – staying at Coral Strand Smart Choice Hotel (not the sexiest of names) on the main island of Mahe, and the dreamy Coco de Mer Hotel Black Parrot Suites on Praslin, famous for its Vallee de Mai Nature Reserve – is relatively affordable for such an otherworldly honeymoon.

MAURITIUS

The Indian Ocean island of Mauritius remains one of those classic castaway honeymoon destinations, but behind the white sand beaches and turquoise lagoon is so much more, including biodiverse domains, botanical gardens, river gorges and mountain trails, vibrant local markets and towns, Creole cuisine and historic mansions. Beachcomber Tours features many of the best-located hotels with complimentary experiences for newlyweds including a full day boat trip and couples’ massage.

CAPE VERDE

Possibly the most under-the-radar honeymoon destination of 2026 is Cape Verde. These Atlantic Islands have all the ingredients for the perfect castaway holiday, often at reasonable prices compared to more chi-chi island nations. Everything here is a little less slick and a little more local and real. I recommend booking with Cape Verde Experience and staying at the family-run Hotel Morabeza right on Santa Maria’s golden beach.

CROATIA

Croatia has it all for honeymooners – deep azure bays and dramatic rocky coastlines, the handsome historic cities, including Dubrovnik, the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’, and luxury islands such as Hvar and Vis. Whether you’re checking into a grande dame hotel or boarding a yacht for an island cruise, Croatia has a romantic crackle about it. Book with the specialist tour operator, Completely Croatia, where experts can lead you beyond the obvious choices.

CORSICA

For the ultimate in old-school Mediterranean glamour and romance, Corsica is hard to beat. This French isle doesn’t do travel fads or trends, it just does what it does beautifully and this includes iconic luxury hotels, pine forests and olive groves, and historic towns such as Ajaccio and Bastia, all wrapped up rich French and Italian influences. Corsican Places is your one-stop-shop for the best Corsican honeymoons.

BRAZIL

Brazil is one of those once-in-a-lifetime destinations that lends itself to a big honeymoon. The small specialist tour agency, Dehouche, will guide you to some of the best honeymoon experiences from swimming in freshwater desert lagoons in Lençóis Maranhenses National Park to dancing barefoot on the beaches of Trancoso.

GOA, INDIA

If you love a hippy vibe, but also want a blow-out, five-star experience, Goa is a brilliant choice. Stay in luxury hotels such as the St. Regis Goa Resort or the more boutique Ahilya by the Sea, whilst dipping in and out of the alternative scene. Goa has been referred to as India’s Latin Quarter where people come to cast off the shackles of their old life and begin again, making it the perfect place to start married life. Book with Goa Experience.

ANTIGUA

If you’re looking for the perfect hideaway resort, Hermitage Bay on the Caribbean island of Antigua is up there with the best. Boutique, adult-only, ultra romantic and as pretty as a picture, the hardest thing you’ll have to navigate here is what type of massage to book and whether you’d like to attend the al fresco cooking demo. Inspiring Travel says it’s one of its most sought-after honeymoon retreats.

SWITZERLAND

The current trend for mountains in summer is partly due to the rising temperatures of European summers and elsewhere, but also because there’s a growing realisation that mountain regions have so much to offer when the snow has melted and the wildflowers are in bloom. Kirker Holidays’ Lakes and Mountains of Switzerland is the perfect honeymoon sojourn taking in Lucerne, Interlaken and Lausanne, travelling by romantic Alpine trains and Belle Époque-era paddle steamers.

RWANDA

A honeymoon is one of those precious opportunities to share something incredible with your new spouse. Getting up close to the gorillas of Rwanda is one of those experiences, and to make this a trip of a lifetime, Mahlatini is the specialist I would turn to. They will create a bespoke Rwandan honeymoon including gorilla trekking through lush rainforests, a wild safari in Akagera, and a spot of kayaking on scenic lakes and rivers, staying in intimate eco-lodges.

CORFU

Our love affair with Corfu shows no sign of flagging. For the ultimate stay, turn to the locally-owned hotel group, Mar-Bella Collection, which has three stunning properties. Avali opened its doors last year and is already one of the island’s most sought-after hotels for couples, whilst nearby Nido is a gorgeous old-school retreat. Both have dreamy views over the Ionian Straits.

CRUISE THE DODECANESE

If you want to explore the Greek Islands but a big cruise ship isn’t quite your cup of tea, Peter Sommer Travels has some intimate gulet cruises, each infused with Greek myth and legend. You’ll come away culturally richer and so relaxed as everything is taken care of on board. The Dodecanese cruise visits Kos, and eleven of the most evocative of the Greek Islands such as Patmos, Nisyros and Kalymnos.

CHILE

Chile hugs much of the west coast of South America and offers a rich mix of different honeymoon experiences. Explore the bohemian Lastarria district of Santiago, marvel at the vast landscapes of the Torres del Paine National Park, try to take in the surreal landscapes of the Atacama Desert and toast one another with a delicious wine in the Central Valley. Let the experts at Rainbow Tours design the perfect trip for you.

ICELAND

If you want an unusual honeymoon, and especially if you’re into the wonderful craze for contrast therapy - saunas, bracing sea dips and thermal waters - Iceland is the place for you. Regent Holidays has many romantic itineraries including a 14-day full-circle fly drive taking you to all the most breathtaking natural wonders.

SAINT VINCENT & THE GRENADINES

An ultra all-inclusive hotel on a Caribbean island is the ultimate fly and flop. Sandals has brought a little bit of Maldivian chic to Saint Vincent & the Grenadines with its overwater villas. And there’s even an overwater chapel if you fancy tying the knot. Plus there’s starbathing (mindful stargazing) and whale watching.

ITALIAN LAKES

If there’s one region of Italy that screams romance, it’s the lakes of the north. Lake Maggiore, Como and Garda are all within easy reach of Milan, and specialist Sardatur Holidays will craft you a five-star honeymoon from classic hotels with the best lake views to Michelin-starred restaurants.

MEDITERRANEAN

There’s something so romantic about a sailing ship. Star Clippers has three tall ships that cruise the Med in summer and none carries more than 227 passengers. It’s perfect if you want to visit a lot of small ports, feel the wind in the sails and get away from cruise ships the size of small towns.

NORTHERN SPAIN

There are many famous train journeys, from Europe’s Venice Simplon-Orient-Express to the Rocky Mountaineer in Canada, but one of the least known is the El Transcantábrico Gran Lujo in Spain. In original 1920s carriages, you’ll be transported from San Sebastian’s Art Nouveau to Santiago’s cathedral with everything from casino evenings to Neolithic cave paintings in between. Book with The Luxury Holiday Company.

FIJI

The South Pacific archipelago of Fiji takes some beating when it comes to castaway honeymoons. Tropical Sky has been sending honeymooners to its white sand beaches and dreamy mountainous landscapes for years, staying in five-star hotels that mix luxury with island style. The adventurous side to the islands is also there if you want it from diving to trekking. And it’s a great two-centre combination with Sydney.

VIETNAM

Vietnam has history and cultures in spades but it also boasts dreamy resorts where the levels of service and style are off the scale. Turquoise Holidays has nailed its top five honeymoon hotels in the destination as Six Senses Con Dao, Four Seasons The Nam Hai, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Topas Eco Lodge and Tam Coc Gardens.

NECKER ISLAND

Richard Branson doesn’t do anything by halves, and buying Necker Island and transforming it into a billionaire’s fantasy retreat, makes it the perfect place to fulfil all your honeymoon dreams. If you have the budget, this private island resort is available for exclusive hire, but most couples settle for a villa for two or a Balinese house. Details from Virgin Limited Edition.

MALLORCA

Artists, writers and rock stars have been discreetly (and not so discreetly) coming to Mallorca for years. Despite mass tourism, this Balearic Isle has retained its heart and soul, and its intense natural beauty. Vintage Travel have done the hard work for you and have a fabulous collection of private villas across the island including the gorgeous Ca’n Bennassar near the pretty town of Pollença. I guarantee if you honeymoon here you’ll want to live here forever, or at least return for an anniversary.

SCOTLAND

What the Scottish Highlands and Islands lack in warm weather, they more than make up for in rugged beauty and culture. McKinlay Kidd offers well-crafted self-drive road trips of the Western Isles, the wilderness of Sutherland, and the northernmost islands. Honeymooners will fall in love with the overwhelming natural beauty and the depth of pride in local culture, from the whisky distilleries to the tweed.

ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE

Sometimes it’s the simplest of things that are the most romantic, and hunkering down in a beautiful cottage for two in the English countryside has to be one of them. It’s also one of the most economical honeymoon options. Rural Retreats specialises in cosy cottages across the UK, and Field Cottage set on the slopes of Bredon Hill on the edge of the village of Elmley Castle in Worcestershire has all the essentials – thatched roof, wood-burning stove, countryside views from the king-sized bed, and a pub within walking distance.

LAKE DISTRICT

For a luxurious Lake District honeymoon, The Gilpin is a find. I would steer honeymooners to Gilpin Lake House with just eight bedrooms around a private lake, sharing a boat house, spa treatment room, hot tubs, sauna and swimming pool. The hotel offers a three-night Gilpin Minimoon, perfect for couples who can’t take much time off work, including dinner at the Michelin-starred SOURCE, a toast to one another in the Champagne Bar and couples spa treatments.
