If you’re a fan of Downton Abbey, why not try out a special weekend to make you feel just like Lord and Lady Grantham.
The gorgeous ancestral castle Swinton Park Hotel in Masham, North Yorkshire, offers special weekend breaks where you can have the country house party experience as seen on the popular BBC One drama.
Hosted by real-life Lord and Lady Masham, whose family have owned the estate since the 1860s, the weekend is filled with traditional activities, country pursuits and fine food.
Choose from bridge, falconry, clay pigeon shooting, fishing and other activities. As an additional extra, you can even go on a private VIP tour of nearby Newham Hall, which was the home to the real Lord Grantham and is connected with the characters in Downton Abbey.
Black tie dinner – period dress optional – includes produce sourced from the estate such as venison and pheasant with complementary wines for each course.
