Banchory Lodge Hotel
Banchory, Aberdeenshire
A country house in town, this dog-friendly hotel on the banks of the River Dee offers a relaxing escape, indoor and alfresco dining, and fly-fishing along the Banchory beats.
Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Fast flows the Dee past the lawns of this 19th-century country house in a leafy setting in town, approached by a tree-lined drive. Bedrooms, from ‘comfy’ to ‘top notch’ with river view and private terrace, are a well-judged blend of traditional and contemporary style. All are supplied with Gordon Castle toiletries, Deeside mineral water, and Tunnock's wafers. Around the hotel, cartoon illustrations by the late Bryce Thomson add a charming note of whimsy. In the restaurant, bar and alfresco, menus include dishes such as burgers, charcoal grills, fish and chips, rock turbot with squid ink risotto, roast onion velouté and wild garlic pesto. A relaxing place, it is ideal for anglers, with friendly staff. Dogs are genuinely welcome.
