The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
The Arts and Crafts movement is lovingly nurtured in this restored Victorian terraced house in a conservation area. Run as a B&B by Brisbane natives Susan and Paul Johnson, it has friezes painted by the hostess, who is a descendant of John Ruskin, in its elegant, high-ceiling bedrooms. William Morris fabrics adorn eye-catching oversized headboards. Down stone steps, a separate entrance leads to two rooms (one with a private garden) that share a lounge and a kitchen. A lounge upstairs has a bar and hot drinks. Served on linen-dressed tables, breakfast includes home-baked bread, fruit and Aussie pikelets. The hosts are a good source of local information; buses and taxis connect to the city centre.
