The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
In a small town in the Jura hills stands Jean-Paul Jeunet”s famous restaurant-with-rooms. He has two Michelin stars. The surrounding vineyards produce an unusual vin jaune which can accompany M. Jeunet”s dishes, based on local produce. “A culinary experience well worth the detour,” says a reader. “A lovely meal in a superb restaurant,” writes another. The welcome is “very friendly”, and the decor is “a confident blend of old stone with modern fabrics”. The dining room has a baronial stone fireplace, vivid abstract collage pictures, bleached beams and Japanese-style blinds. “Unostentatious” bedrooms range from “light and airy” to “dark, somewhat old-fashioned, but quiet and comfortable”. Two rooms open on to a private garden, and there is a lovely flowery courtyard. Mme Jeunet supervises the dining room and serves the “delicious breakfast” (yogurt, cheese, etc; boiled eggs on request). Children are welcomed. Visit Arbois”s small museum devoted to Pasteur (he spent his youth here).
