Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
The imaginatively detailed interior of this hotel sets it apart: the 18th century French chinoiserie style includes fabric toile du Jouy wallpaper, oriental carpets and custom-made furniture with Oriental marquetry. Despite the luxurious interiors, a recent reviewer found the hotel 'unpretentious but efficient and very comfortable'. The restaurant (the setting for lunches, dinner, weekend brunches and a traditional afternoon tea), features gilt glass panels portraying Chinese gardens and dark wood tables with mother-of-pearl inlays. Standard rooms are small, but the sloping ceilings on some of the upper levels add a romantic feel. 'The manager Cecile Croisard has just the right touch of friendliness and command of the hotel. The staff were all extremely friendly and efficient'.
