The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

Good Hotel Guide Review

Returning to Pierre and Gisèle Lafortune's hotel, a former 17th-century convent near St-Sulpice, a visitor wrote: 'Expensive, but worth every euro. The people are charming.' Set back from a small street behind large wooden gates, across a small courtyard lit by carriage lamps at night, it has long been admired by Guide readers, not least for the tranquil garden and delightful seating area. A continental breakfast, thought 'excellent', is served in a conservatory-style room. It is included in the room rate and comes with a free English newspaper. The duplexes have a terrace with view over rooftops. There is a small mirrored lift. One visitor enjoyed tea with biscuits by the fire in a salon full of flowers: 'How civilised, like being in someone's country home. Wonderful squishy armchairs.'
