Ever-popular, Simone Simoni's 'blissfully quiet' B&B in a residential area on a hilltop just north-west of Florence represents 'amazing value', say its devotees. 'Breathtaking' views over the city are seen from the dining room and many bedrooms, notably Room 21 ('usually reserved a year in advance'). 'A bottle of Chianti, with canapés, can be taken on the charming terrace [with a huge, gnarled wisteria and pots of flowers] as you watch the sun set over Florence.' 'Great choice for breakfast.' There are 'beautiful small sitting rooms' on several floors. Bus 7 to the city goes from the top of the road, and 'there is good walking in the hills nearby, a nice change from pounding the pavements'.
