The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Originally an apartment building dating from 1913-1914, the Alma became a hotel in 1978 and still retains Art Nouveau touches. It's set on a small, quiet street in downtown Vienna, a minutes' walk from Schwedenplatz underground station. Some rooms have whirlpool tubs and the best are those that overlook the street; there are also two suites which offer access to the rooftop terrace with panoramic views (which is open to all guests). Free tea and coffee are available from reception, and breakfast in a basement dining room offers the usual buffet selection, plus newspapers.
