Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Much loved by Guide readers, this is said to be the oldest hotel in Vienna (opened 1815). 'Full of character', it is close to St Stephan's cathedral and 'very good shopping'. It has a yellow exterior and a vaulted reception area that opens on to a glassed-over courtyard, now the lounge/bar, with trees, plants and easy chairs. Here, guests can enjoy Wiener Kaffeespezialitäten. Service 'is very good'. All the bedrooms are different; most are 'nice and roomy'. Some look on to the atrium; street-facing ones are lighter. Bathrooms are modern. There are some two-bedroom duplex apartments. Breakfast, served until 11.30am, includes 'healthy options'. The house next door, where The Marriage of Figaro was composed, contains a charming Mozart museum. The air terminal is a short walk away.
