Sitting on the terrace having breakfast, or in the garden facing the lake, is wonderful.” Run with “great warmth” by its “charming owners” Dorly and Urs-Peter Geering and their “attentive staff”, it has fine views over the lake, and is protected from northerly winds by Mount Rigi. There is a broad lakeside terrace for summer meals, a lovely garden with a swimming pool kept warm until late September, and a solarium. Some bedrooms are small. Back ones face a small street. One couple had a “beautiful first-floor room with a patio overlooking the lake”. “Busy steamboats, and ice-capped mountains across the water.” “We liked being able to choose each day whether we wanted to be on demi-pension.” “Substantial five-course dinner, very reliable [14 Gault Millau points]. Wide and varied wine list.” On Tuesday evenings there is a “wonderful” buffet with local specialities. Desserts are “irresistible”. “Not cheap, but worth it.” “In off-season excellent value.” The cable car up to Rigi Kaltbad is 15 minutes” walk away.
