Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Lush greenery along a sweeping tree-lined drive 'soothes the soul' as the towers and crenellations of this 18th-century castle come into view. Inside, guests are beguiled by the sweet smell of wood smoke from an open hearth. 'Guest-centred' staff 'exude warmth'. Decorated with richly patterned wallpaper and fabrics, bedrooms are embellished with ornate beds, table lamps and mirrors. For afternoon tea, there are three tiers of sweet and savoury treats. Dinner is taken in the 'graceful' ballroom, or at candlelit tables in the vaulted cellars. 'Convenient for a one-night Edinburgh stopover', the castle is a popular venue for weddings. It is part of the Original Collection.
