The Fitzherbert Arms
Stone, Staffordshire
The perfect village local, the 'Fitz' has beams, blazing fires, classic pub food, and attractive, generously equipped rooms in the next-door farmhouse.
Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
You can enjoy a pint of Fitzherbert Best by a blazing fire in this characterful village local, but if port is more your thing you'll be spoilt for choice. Enjoy either with pub classics such as steak and ale pie, fish and chips, Wagyu cheeseburger… Bedrooms, rated ‘cosy’, ‘comfy’ and ‘roomy’, with roll-top bath and/or shower, are named after fincas in Porto. In the recently restored next-door farmhouse, they have a suitably rustic aspect along with generous modern comforts such as an espresso machine, complimentary port, Yorkshire crisps and Welsh lavender wash. After a breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice, borrow a pair of the brightly coloured wellies in the hallway for a country walk, or spend a day visiting the Potteries.
