On Scotland’s Golf Coast, the former Ducks Inn has been smartly reinvented as the Leddie – the old name for the Peffer Burn that runs through the village. Rooms range from ‘cosy’ doubles to junior suites with king-size bed in the main building, plus two spacious annexe suites. The look is contemporary and unfussy, with a palette inspired by the East Lothian landscape. All rooms have an espresso machine and L’Occitane toiletries. In the restaurant and walled garden, you can dine from an all-day menu on pub classics and dishes such as Shetland mussels, wild garlic and white wine sauce; spiced lentil dahl and aubergine pakora. Muirfield and Gullane are just two of the nearby golf courses, and bespoke packages can be arranged.
