The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
A brook runs by the terrace of this smartly refurbished gastropub with rooms, where you can eat locally sourced, imaginative dishes in the restaurant or outside, or simply enjoy a pint and the Monday night supper club with the locals. There are smart rooms in the main house and stable block, all with a roll-top bath or large walk-in shower and organic toiletries. Expect real ales on tap in the bar, banquette seating in a restaurant hung with works by local artist Paul Wright. Locally sourced menus feature dishes such as tandoori spiced cauliflower steak, or Belted Galloway ribeye from the pub’s own farm. When the sun shines, the Josper grill is fired up in the garden, or you can have a drink and a bite on the terrace beside the Medbourne.
Festive 2025 Special Offer
Festive 2025 Special Offer. Celebrate Christmas with the hotel and get the chance to benefit from a special room rate. Guests who book a table here for Christmas Day can also take advantage of a room rate of just £150/night (or £195/night for one of the four-poster rooms). All the hotel asks is that you book a two-night minimum stay, including Christmas night and Boxing Day night. The offer even includes breakfast. The hotel would love you to celebrate the festive season with them and, with the fires lit and the atmosphere warm, The Nevill Arms is the perfect place to hunker down in the colder months. Hardly surprising The Times recently described the hotel as “one of the cosiest places to stay in the UK”. Please book direct by emailing info@nevillarms.co.uk mentioning the Good Hotel Guide.
