The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The Queens Chew Magna
Recent smart renovation has not detracted from the friendly ambience of this village local and gastropub with four very affordable bedrooms.
Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Community hub meets gastropub at this family-friendly local in a Chew Valley village on the edge of the Mendips. The former Queens Arms, it was spruced up in 2021, blending flagstones and parquet flooring, contemporary paint colours, wooden furniture and wing armchairs. The four affordable bedrooms have vintage pieces, bold paint finishes, colourful fabrics, a contemporary bathroom with walk-in shower and White Company toiletries. One dog-friendly suite has a ground-floor lounge with a sofa bed, stairs to a super-king bedroom. Come for Sunday roasts, pub classics, and small and large plates (maybe mussels in cider sauce; burrata with San Marzano tomatoes in sweet balsamic marinade; bavette steak and fries).
