The Queen's Head
Salisbury, Wiltshire
Still very much a village local, with four simple, tasteful bedrooms, this atmospheric 19th-century beamed pub, serving staples and more exciting dishes, has been given a new lease of life by the Chickpea Group.
Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
A member of the growing Chickpea Group, this village inn comes with beamed interiors, wooden banquettes and kilim-covered stone and timber floors. Quirky artworks hang on walls painted with Farrow & Ball Sudbury Yellow and Inchyra Blue. On cold days, the log burners are lit; when the sun shines you can drink in a wild meadow opposite. Furnishings for annexe bedrooms were sourced from local suppliers and antique shops. The menu mixes classics including burgers and fish and chips with dishes such as wild boar tortellini with chicken cream. Your hosts invite you to ‘eat, drink, ramble’, (and don’t we all ramble when we’ve had a few?)
