Two young local couples have created a foodie destination at this 17th-century thatched village pub, with two boutique guest bedrooms. 'Dusk' has a double bed, an espresso machine, mini bar and shower room, Bramley toiletries. 'Dawn', sleeping four, has a living room, a kitchenette, a copper bathtub. Bar food is dispensed from a van – maybe Singapore noodles, rabbit with mustard sauce. But it is the Farmer’s Table and vegan set menus created by chef-patron Pete Pestell and sourced from the pub’s farm, that have put the place on the map. Maybe Boer kid Thessalonica style; pig’s trotter pie; for veggies oyster mushrooms, Thai green sauce, sticky rice. There is also a beer garden, so make hay while the sun shines.
