'If you like a wine fridge and beach towels in your room rather than a robe and slippers, this place is for you,' writes our inspector. Boutique-style bedrooms are 'beautifully designed, mixing original features, custom-made wood panelling, modern furniture and art'. Expect hangars on the wall rather than a wardrobe and USB ports by the bed. Room 2 has large window seats and a headboard partition separating bedroom from bathroom, Room 3 has an in-room roll-top bath. You can enjoy cheese and charcuterie during the day as you admire the sea view before a complimentary wine tasting in the wine room, whose shelves are stacked with hundreds of bottles. On Fridays, Tom cooks a no-choice tasting menu of dishes using only Isle of Wight produce. Breakfast is 'a four-course extravaganza, which starts with a sausage roll', (meat or veggie) and ends with 'a minimalist take on the full English'. It sets you up nicely for the walk along the coast to Steephill Cove.
