Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
If you’re seeking bed and Bard, this 15th-century hostelry, a Fuller’s pub with rooms, is moments from Shakespeare’s birthplace. Within, you’ll find oak timbers, oak furniture and panelling, an authentic atmosphere. There is a wide choice of rooms, from traditionally styled cosy doubles with a mini fridge and coffee maker, to ‘character’, in the oldest part of the building, with maybe a carved antique four-poster. Grand rooms have a roll-top bath and a walk-in shower, Bee Kind toiletries, perhaps a mural of Leda and the Swan. Menus mix pub classics with more modern dishes such as brown-butter chalk-stream trout fillet, duck breast with blackberry jus, broccoli and mozzarella gnocchi. Songs and sweet airs are played throughout.
