The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
They market this seaside hotel on Cornwall's craggy Pentire headland as having rooms on the edge of the Atlantic, and they're not kidding: the 'fabulous views' towards Towan Head and Fistral beach from most of the bedrooms are breathtaking. Stylishly decorated, the hotel has 'friendly, helpful and efficient' staff and a laid-back atmosphere. Each room has homemade biscuits, binoculars and high-tech features as well as 'extremely comfortable beds'. Bathrooms have robes, organic toiletries, perhaps a slipper bath. The restaurant and bar are popular with locals. In the dining room and on the terrace above the ocean, you can enjoy dishes such as soy and miso roasted cod or sweet and sour lentils. The hotel is a pebble's throw from the South West Coast Path. (Suzanne Lyons)
