Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
A new addition to Ian and Christa Taylor’s Kaleidoscope Hotels, this hotel occupies two fine Georgian townhouses on a handsome and historic boulevard. It’s early days, and plans are afoot to infuse the interiors with the group’s signature playfulness and vibrancy. For now, they are strictly traditional, with antiques, chandeliers, hand-crafted wallpapers, some four-poster beds. Up six flights of stairs (no lift; the property is Grade I listed), affordable cosy doubles are tucked under mansard roofs with views of chimney pots. Deluxe suites with gracious proportions have a separate sitting room. Breakfast, served at the table, is traditional, too, with a full English, kippers, smoked haddock. For dinner, why not pop around to sister venture The Bird (see entry).
