The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Serving cider since 1851, this honey-stone village pub has been attracting attention since a lockdown makeover by enthusiastic new owners. Contemporary-chic bedrooms have good fabrics, a Roberts radio, 100 Acres toiletries, views over gently rolling countryside. Coach-house rooms are dog friendly. In the teal, flagstone-floored bar and restaurant, enjoy cider and dill-battered fish and chips with a glass of Somerset's best, as well as different takes on British classics, such as harissa marinated lamb rump or ricotta and spinach gnudi. Pork is supplied from the free-range Story Pig farm nearby, vegetables arrive by wheelbarrow courtesy of a local grower, and Apex beers are from the microbrewery behind. There are fresh-baked croissants at breakfast, with a small charge for cooked items.
