The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The latest Independent Hotel show awards, in association with Sky, acknowledged the outstanding innovation and creativity displayed by the 2017 winner for Outstanding New Hotel, No.15 Great Pulteney in creating and maintaining a first-class guest experience. These awards, which were first introduced in 2012, are voted for by hotel guests, championing those who set the standard in the industry and go that extra mile to make independent hotels such fantastic places to stay.
Bronwyn de Cholewa, Director at Sky Business, who presented the awards said:
“We were thrilled to present the award for Outstanding New Hotel to Jonathan Walker and the team at Great Pulteney for Outstanding New Hotel. This hotel displays a real passion and commitment to providing the best possible guest experience.
We are delighted that they use Sky-In Room to complement their excellent hotel offering, it’s great to be a part of the winning formula and we will continue to provide the best sport and entertainment content to help our hoteliers entertain their guests.”
Jonathan Walker runs No.15 Great Pulteney which is a stunning, Good Hotel Guide recognised boutique hotel in Bath set across 3 Georgian townhouses on one of Bath’s most well-known streets with 40 fabulous guest rooms, a spa, cocktail bar, private dining room and café. Jonathan says that leisure guests are increasingly expecting the same level of quality TV and entertainment in hotels that they enjoy at home, and credits Sky-In-Room for contributing to the home from home feel in his hotel:
“At home now guests have quality televisions and a range of channels and they also want to have this when they are away. Our guests are mostly leisure guests so we liked the idea of that they could relax in their rooms and watch movies or sports channels with Sky-In-Room.
Often televisions and channel choice is very disappointing in hotels, so we thought Sky In-Room would really add to the guest experience. Guests love that they can watch a full choice of sport and movies and they comment on it when we take them to their rooms. We’ve also seen great comments on social media!”
With Sky-In-Room, each hotel room has a small and discreet Sky Box which allows guests to enjoy all the shows they know and love, creating a home-from-home feel. Sky offers guests a stellar line up, including gripping series such as all new Britannia, Game of Thrones and Westworld on Sky Atlantic. There are many more exciting dramas to be found on Sky One such as The Blacklist, as well as Sky Original Productions like James Town and Bliss. There are also 11 Sky Cinema channels for guests to choose from, showing everything from the nation’s best loved comedies, to the all-time classics. Sky-In-Room can also be used to differentiate premium and standard room grades.
