The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
New to Nick Dent’s Original Collection, and revelling in its Gaelic heritage, this traditional 19th-century inn almost dips a toe in the Sound of Sleat, with sublime views to the hills of Knoydart. Characterful bedrooms have a cottagey feel (ginghams, florals, period furniture). After days of country sports or wildlife spotting, return to sample Gaelic whiskies by a roaring fire. Labradoodle Ginny and cockapoo Pippa welcome visiting pooches. In the bar and panelled dining room, gastropub fare includes estate venison, fish and shellfish landed on the stone pier on which Jacobite heroine Flora Macdonald was arrested, and there’s a separate menu for veggies and vegans.
