The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Known as the Cavalier Country Club in 1964 when The Beatles stayed, this is an atmospheric, Grade II* listed Jacobean manor house, with beams, panelled walls, leaded mullioned windows and sunken parterre garden. Part of the Red Carnation Group (see Summer Lodge, Evershot), it is family and dog friendly, a sought-after events venue, with accommodation ranging from double/twin rooms to split-level suites, mixing period furniture and contemporary comforts. All have a cafetière or an espresso machine, White Company toiletries. In the restaurant you can dine on dishes such as lamb loin, belly, turnip, baby gem, confit potato and wild garlic, with both vegan and tasting menus. Packages include the Brontë Country Escape, and you can marry there.
