Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
At first sight the former Woodbridge Inn Hotel may not appear exotic, but enter the Dragon and you’re in another world. Hospitality pros Lok & Jen Cheung have created a hotel in Pan-Asian style, with a ‘transportive and festive ambience throughout’. Bedrooms range from ‘snug’ to the Luxury China Room with hand-built four-poster and Juliet balcony. Our inspectors’ deluxe double had a king-size modern four-poster, comfy seating, a bath with shower over. Welsh cakes were a welcoming touch. ‘Unfailingly polite and helpful staff must count as one of their biggest assets', but ‘the outstanding glory lies in Lokky’s restaurant’, where award-winning chef Gil Ying Nibay’s menus are ‘a fabulous amalgamation' of cuisine from Korea, China, the Philippines and Japan. ‘Truly superb’ dishes include ‘wonderfully indulgent starters’ such as Thai crab and seafood sphere, ‘scrumptious main courses’ (maybe Filipino pork adobo), and ‘delectable desserts’. Vegetarians and vegans won’t go hungry and there is a 'fantastic array' of Asian-inspired cocktails. After a ‘Dragon’s Feast’ breakfast (aka the full Welsh) or before an unusual afternoon tea (vegetable spring roll, Korean pulled pork bao bun, Welsh cake with ube jam…), you might broach the Landsker Borderlands Walk or pick up the nearby Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.
