The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
For a comfortable base from which to roam the Cotswolds away from the crowds, this 'stunning hotel' a mile outside hilltop Stow-on-the-Wold does the trick. 'Very comfortable rooms', from ground-floor super-king/twins to first-floor suites, are all ‘bright and airy’. They come with air conditioning, a mini-fridge, home-baked shortbread, bottled water, ‘everything you need for an enjoyable stay’. Readers praise the ‘friendly welcome’: ‘the staff make this place; nothing is too much trouble’. ‘The main attraction is The Yew Tree restaurant.' Locally sourced, beautifully presented dishes might include ‘exceptional’ dishes such as smoked Bibury trout with cheddar custard, fermented gooseberry and dill sauce; venison Bourguignon, as well as fish and chips and burgers. ‘Make sure you book DB&B.’ (Colin Charles, Kim Hearn, John Burton)
