The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

The Plough Inn
Favesham, Kent
Marianne and Richard Baker's family and dog-friendly atmospheric gastropub, in deep downland countryside, has six duplex suites in a converted barn, extensive grounds, and a menu of pub classics done well, mixed with more creative cooking.
Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
'A hidden gem’, Marianne and Richard Baker’s beamed gastropub occupies a 15th-century Wealden hall house. Each of the suites, in a converted barn, is set over two floors and is ideal for longer stays, with lounge/diner, bath and walk-in shower. They are supplied with a coffee machine, a mini-fridge, fresh milk and a picnic blanket. You can dine indoors or out, on pub classics or more imaginative specials such a stone bass cassoulet. Breakfast hampers are provided, while cooked dishes can be delivered to your door. Though in deep downland countryside, the pub is close to the M2 and M20 (when Guide insiders visited, a French family had made it their base while exploring this lovely part of Kent).
