An ideal base for exploring Hardy's Wessex or Dorset's Jurassic coast, this family and dog-friendly pub is owned by mother and daughter Bron and Lucy Ellis. They run it alongside chef Marie Childs, who serves pub classics such as fish and chips and burgers (beef, lentil, halloumi) alongside dishes such as sweet potato and cauliflower coconut curry; chicken shawarma flatbread. Sunday roasts are popular. Bedrooms, in a separate block, each have their own entrance, an espresso machine, Bramley toiletries. Studio rooms have a kitchenette and private outdoor space. There’s a cosy bar with log burner where you can enjoy local ales, a more formal dining room and a beer garden with panoramic views.
